Will T-Mobile Carry IPhone 4 Before 2010 Is Out?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

The iPhone 4 antenna issue may not warrant a recall in Apple’s estimation, but that isn’t because they’re too afraid of the cost of such action. PC Magazine reports that Apple’s fiscal third quarter for 2010 was an excellent success, in no small part due to sales of the iPad. Sales numbers included $ 3.25 billion net profit on revenue of $ 15.7 billion, and Apple is not looking back. However, there may be even more excitement in store for fans of the technology company. Cult of Mac insists they have a “highly placed source” that has leaked that T-Mobile will begin selling iPhone 4 by Q3 2010. Furthermore, PC World reports that this merger is 80 percent certain.

What could not T-Mobile achieve with iPhone 4?

T-Mobile would surely rise to the top within the U.S. with iPhone 4. Frequency issues could get within the way, indicates PC World. As the carrier uses a non-standard band (1700/2100 MHz) and it is unknown whether the iPhone 4 will work at the lower end of T-Mobile’s frequency range, there could be major reception issues.

Maybe this should go within the iPhone 4 rumor discard pile

Considering Cult of Mac’s overall track record with predictions, PC World may be right in reminding us not to lose our heads. Considering the network cap issues Apple has encountered with AT & T (and the relative animosity Verizon has shown toward Steve Jobs and crew), it could be that T-Mobile has the bandwidth to spare for iPhone users and an as-yet clean and clear relationship with Apple. Since Apple is already in cahoots with T-Mobile parent company Deustche Telekom in Europe, maybe T-Mobile has its foot in the door already.

Are you ready for the T-Mobile jump?

If T-Mobile does indeed enter a partnership with Apple, the pool won’t stay sparsely populated for long. Antenna issues aside, iPhone 4 remains wildly popular. It is the most severe competition for Droid and other top smartphones. Do you see it differently? Sound off.

IPod Touch 32 GB 3rd Generation Is Is The Winner In A World Of Media Player Devices

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

The 3rd generation of the Apple iPod Touch is the winner in a world of media player devices. Although it does come with a couple of new features, the major features of the 2nd generation iPod Touch remain unchanged. Here is a quick look at this new model to help you decide if it is worth the upgrade.

The iPod Touch 32GB 3rd Generation edition was added to the iPod Touch line on the 9th September 2009. With its amazing portability and new feature addition the device is an improvement over excellence. The WiFi connectivity, improved accessibility, amazing Voice Control and superb graphic enhancements are the icing on the cake. The features are many and different users like it for different features. For instance its web browsing and e-mail support is liked by some while others love it as a portable gaming device and still others adore it for great old- fashioned music and video playback.

The major improvements can be witnessed in the features of the 3rd generation iPod Touch. Improvements have been made to the Genius play-list feature. Now the Genius feature is even more powerful. A Genius Mixes feature has been added to help you select a mix of songs in a play-list according to genre. All you do is sync iPod touch to iTunes, and Genius automatically searches your library to find songs that sound great together. Then it creates multiple mixes you’ll love. These mixes are like channels programmed entirely with your music.

Then there is the new Voice Control feature that lets you control music playback by saying the controls out loud. All you need to do is to hold the headphone remote button and speak the commands into the microphone. Besides basic controls like ‘next song’ and play, you can also call out song names and the name of the artists that you wish to listen to. Voice Control knows the music in your iPod touch. Want to hear something specific? All you have to do is ask. For instance, say “Play artist Bob Dylan,” and iPod touch does just that. Ask what song is playing and hear iPod touch answer. Tell it to play your favorite album, artist, or playlist.

The new 32 GB iPod touch come with the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic. So you can reap the benefits (and the fun) of Voice Control even when your 32 GB iPod touch is tucked in your pocket or bag. To activate Voice Control using the headphones, just press and hold the center area of the remote that is built in to the cord of the headphones.

Voice Control features support for the following languages: Chinese (Cantonese), Chinese (China), Chinese (Taiwan), Dutch, English (UK), English (US), Finnish, French (Canada), French (France), German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), Swedish

Crazy New Cell Phone Ring Tones

Cell phones have been in vogue for the past 15 years or so, and have today become the most inseparable tool to professionals and businessmen alike. Cell phone ring-tones have also come a long way from being just rings or beeps or rings in the initial days of the cell phone. Today the variety of ring-tones can be mind boggling, from the crying of a baby to the sound of a bad storm in the ocean. This advent of maturity in cell phone ring tones is mainly attributed to more and more younger people using cell phones. The ever evolving industry of cell phone ring tones is heavily dependent on the tastes and preferences of these young people.
Most cell phone ring tones today are available for free. Most of them are available on the cell phone websites that offer a choice from the melodious to the ridiculous. Most ring tones available today are based on the latest audio hits that the younger generation have taken a liking for.
Downloading a ring tone is absolutely easy and the only factor that needs to be considered is the cell phone compatibility. Most new handsets available today are compatible with capabilities to store more and more ring tones. Ring tones are looked upon as a tool for customizing a cell phone to reflect the personality of the user. The young go for the flashier ones and the older people prefer the melodious.
It’s no secret that cell phones can now alert you to incoming calls with a musical ring tone. I applaud this development: Songs sound better than beeps, and they’re personal.
There is a catch, however. Buying ring tones can be expensive. Online stores typically charge more to send a song snippet to your cell phone than they do to download a whole song to your PC. Ring-tone sellers tend to tout compatibility they can’t back up. Even if they sell you one that works on your phone and deliver it to you successfully, you’ll still have to pony up more cash every time you want to switch your ring tone. And if you buy a new phone, you may not be able to use the ring tones you’ve purchased and loaded onto your old one.
Record labels love it when fans buy a ring tone of a song they already own — the industry claims $4 billion in ring-tone sales to date. But in fairness, you shouldn’t have to pay separately just to hear your CD tracks or legally acquired MP3s as ring tones.
In most cases, you don’t have to. Putting a snippet of a CD track or MP3 file on your phone is actually very straightforward — not to mention free, if you already own the song.

Redwood City Bar And A New IPhone Prototype That Was Found

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

So a tech blogger walks into a bar and finds the next iPhone prototype. Stop me if you’ve heard this one… But seriously, Gizmodo may have gotten the scoop on the rest of the tech journalism universe with a discovery of what appears to be a prototype of the next iPhone (iPhone 4G?). It was actually found it in a Redwood City bar by a Gizmodo reporter. After checking with Apple-connected John Gruber of Daring Fireball, Gizmodo found out that Apple had lost a prototype and was definitely “very interested” in getting it back. Whether they were ready to use payday loans to sic Sherlock Holmes on the case is unclear.

An iPhone prototype in 3GS clothing

On the surface, the plastic case of the iPhone prototype looks more or less like an iPhone 3GS. There are many details that make this iPhone different:

  • Front-facing video camera in addition to a back camera with a flash and larger lens
  • Micro-SIM – more secure, more storage, more allowable connections. This would be the first use of this tech in a U.S. cell phone
  • Higher-res display (exact numbers unclear so far)
  • A second microphone port and second volume button
  • Metal buttons
  • A flatter, more squared-off design
  • Higher-powered battery… 5.25 WHr (watt hours) at 3.7V, compared with 4.75 WHr in the iPhone 3GS

Red herring or new iPhone?

Gizmodo believes this new iPhone is a real discovery for a number of reasons. It was running the iPhone 4.0 operating system before that OS was even announced first of all. Second thing, the iPhone was killed likely before Gizmodo could get any further into the OS. When it is connected to a Mac OS X system, the device was recognized as an iPhone in both Xcode and iTunes, but no firmware updates were available, which indicated to Gizmodo that this was an unreleased unit. The fact that the Mac OS X System Profiler reported it as an iPhone in restore mode is consistent with the phone having been “remotely wiped.” according to Gizmodo.

The proof is under the hood

The components on the inside are Apple-labeled and fit together very well inside the case. If this were 3G or 3GS parts in some modified housing, Gizmodo claims the parts wouldn’t fit so well. Thus, they feel it was designed for that case. The case is thinner than the 3GS but slightly heavier (probably because of the metal buttons). The design seemed like it was a little less sleek than most Apple products. It’s boxier and kind of ugly (like tax debt), whereas previous iPhones have had more curves. The iPhone being a prototype could be the excuse for this though.

What does this mean for all consumers

The next-gen iPhone is going to be announced this summer. If the iPhone prototype discovered by Gizmodo is an indication of the future, people waiting to upgrade may want to take the plunge. A better back camera, a better battery, a second microphone for better voice clarity, and a front video cam addresses some of fans’ major concerns. Sexy up the case and Apple may just have a deal.
